The Hacienda Buena Vista was a 19th century coffee plantation developed by the Vives family in the mountains north of Ponce on Puerto Rico's Caribbean shore. A perfect storm of natural, economic and competitive forces all but destroyed this historic site almost a century ago. It was rescued and restored by the Conservation Trust of Puerto Rico to the great enjoyment of these Eco-Detour travelers and many others who come to visit and come to learn. This was one detour from the daily grind that was definitely worth the time and effort. And we got a great cup of coffee as well.
